Since 1998 almost 3000 accredited CME events and over 3000 CPD activities have been registered in the CME/CPD credit management system from different countries in Europe and the world.
Accreditation within the EU-ACME programme means that the scientific content of a CME/CPD activity was received and approved by the EBU Accreditation Committee and that the CME provider has fulfilled the EBU quality requirements. It also means that the scientific content of the programme is of high quality, it complies with the EBU/UEMS regulations and is free of commercial bias.
The EBU Accreditation Committee defines the number of credits, based on:
- the regulations in the CME brochure
- themes of the activities (they need to be urological)
- invited faculty
- experience/involvement of sponsoring companies*
* Company organised events are not eligible for accreditation
* Company sponsored events might be eligible if educational value is extremely high
The CME credit point is a unit of time that a physician spends attending a CME activity. For the CME activities (congresses and courses), there is a general rule of 1 credit per hour with a maximum of 6 credits per day.
