Introduction for physicians

What is a CME Credit point?
A CME credit point is a unit of time that a physician spends attending a CME activity.
By participating in a CME activity accredited for a defined number of CME credits, a physician can earn the same, or a lower number of CME credits, depending on the time spent in the CME activity.
These credits can be reported to a local or national CME authority or the EU-ACME office.

Collecting CME Credits
In countries which have CME system in place, physicians are obliged to report their participation in CME activities. For this purpose CME Certificates are issued at the end of all accredited CME programmes (events, workshops, seminars). These certificates can then be presented to the demanding authority.
The EU-ACME programme gives access to an online system - in compliance with EBU/UEMS regulations - which helps urologists to keep track of their educational activities, irrespective of the country they practice in or where they have participated in CME/CPD-accredited activities.

Necessity for CME
Keeping up-to-date with the latest achievements in diagnosis and treatment of one's specialty is a physician's professional obligation. In certain countries it has already become a legal obligation today.
